St. Augustine's Anglican Church

The Overseas Missions objective is to spread the Word and the love of God throughout the world.

Our aim is to financially support a number of Christian organisations such as: -

Bush Church Aid

Through World Vision we sponsor a little Vietnamese girl Linh Phuong Nguyen by weekly voluntary giving.

The Parish of Woolgoolga is situated 40 minutes south of Grafton and 20 minutes north of Coffs Harbour.

Woolgoolga is a seaside town and enjoys a sub-tropical climate. It is a popular holiday destination for people from Victoria during the winter and has all the amenities that retirees require.

The population of the Parish is about 14,000 and will grow to 24,000. Tourism, bananas and forestry are the main industries in Woolgoolga's economy.

First Church	Records suggest that in the late 1890's the original St Augustine's Anglican Church was built. However, several reports differ on the actual date when the church was erected.
Second Church	In 1973, it was decided that the original church would not accommodate all the Anglican parishioners. The second church of the St Augustine parish had its foundation stone laid on September 12th, 1973.
Third Church	The new & present church had its foundation stone laid on November 30, 1983.

An Anglican Parish Rector (or Priest) is directly responsible for the development and maintenance of the parish. The Rector is answerable to the Bishop and Diocesan Synod for major decisions. The Rector is assisted with the day to day operation of the parish by a Parish Council elected by the congregation.

The function of the Parish Priest is to equip the people for the work of ministry and to lead in worship, teaching and preaching. In this parish the members of the congregation are encouraged to take on leadership roles and to be active in all aspects of ministry.
